Cherish Xinyi Lee
By ADCOLOR June 25, 2018 |Cherish is from the sunny island of Singapore and is currently based in Portland, Oregon working as an integrated communications and media planner at Wieden + Kennedy. Her unique role has accorded her the opportunity to understand and impact culture in many different ways by leveraging a thorough strategic understanding of the evolution and growth of how different audiences consume and view media today. She does this specifically for the Old Spice account across their portfolio in US and Canada. Her work for Old Spice has played an important role in pushing for the evolution of branded content through her close partnerships with large media companies like Turner media, Complex, Vice, Hulu, Twitter, Facebook, Google and Twitch.
Through her different experiences in life, Cherish is constantly driven by the question “What is my purpose in being here and how can I live up to that?” Through her personal journey of navigating this industry as a foreign citizen, she has found her purpose in the advocacy of other talent of color and immigrants. She does this in an effort to continuously shatter the limitations the industry has put on the people who can have a seat at the table. In doing so, she strives to provide the foundational impetus for more authentic and powerful movements to exist in the world.
On top of her 9-5, Cherish plays an active role in the Asiancy organization both in the W+K chapter and the Portland chapter at large. The group exists to further connect Portland advertising’s Asian & Asian-Americans with one another, strengthen knowledge and ownership of our racial and ethnic heritages, and build awareness within their respective agencies and the local community of Portland. She is also a huge podcast fan who will love to break it down with you in a friendly debate over a good meal and some drinks anytime!
